This past Saturday night at the Spotlight 29 Casino in Coachella, Ca. undefeated Super Bantamweight prospect Michael "Lil Warrior" Franco kept his record perfect with an 8th round K/O over former 2 time WBO World Champion Kermin Guardia (37-11 21 KOs). The slick southpaw seemed to give Franco some trouble with his awkwardness early on but by the end of the 2nd round Franco started landing his piston like jab keeping Guardia off balance. By the 4th, Franco had figured out his much more experienced opponent and was landing more frequently to both the head and body even dropping him with a short right hand inside.
The game veteran began to slow down by the 5th round and was in survival mode, running from corner to corner under the relentless pressure it was obvious that he was only looking to finish on his feet. In the 8th Guardia would fall prey to that pressure .28 seconds into the round after another right sent him to the canvas for the count. Referee Zach Young would waive off the bout when Guardia was unable to make it to his feet.
"I'm glad I stopped him, a lot of good fighters have fought this guy but were not able to look good against him or stop the guy or even put him down, but I know I have one of the better jabs in the business and carry a lot of power & precision in both hands. Patients and pressure was the plan for this fight and it worked out the way we expected it".
The Lil Warrior wanted to thank his promoters Jorge Marron & Don Chargin, his family, Dr. Cohen, Rooly Eye Wear, Flex, Hugo Sosa Entertainment, Top Ten, all of his sponsors and the Warrior Nation for their support.
